I wanted a project to showcase the gorgeous hand dyed Teeswater Locks I purchased. This Cowl was perfect. It’s textured and beautiful on its own but the stitches don’t distract from the fringe. Fringe and Locks are optional.
This is a very easy pattern suitable for beginners.
Materials Used-
Worsted Weight Yarn- I used Knitted Wit’s Worsted Superwash Merino. Approximately 300 yds however this pattern can be made using any weight yarn or any size hook.
Size J (6.00mm) Crochet Hook
Teeswater Dyed Locks (optional) ½ oz to 1 oz is enough
Yarn Needle to sew in ends, Scissors, Measuring Tape and Stitch Markers if needed.
Stitches and Abbreviations Used:
CH.- Chain
SS- Slipstitch
SC- Single Crochet
LSC- Long Single Crochet- Insert Hook into stitch or space specified, Yarn Over and Pull through. Yarn over and pull through one loop on hook, yarn over and pull through two loops on hook. Also called an Extended SC
DC- Double Crochet
FPDC- Front Post Double Crochet
PUFF- Puff Stitch- Working into stitch or space specified, yarn over and pull up a loop 4 times. You will have 9 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. Chain 1 to finish.
SK.- Skip
FO- Fasten Off
