Cherish Shawl
This large, soft shawl is my “go-to” wrap on chilly evenings. It travels with me everywhere as a much loved and familiar comforter in the way children have a “blankie”. Try to use lovely soft pure wool for that touch of luxury, and softness and warmth on the skin.
I have designed the shawl in a double knitting yarn with a lovely drape and loft. I used Erika Knight BB100 pure wool which is only available in 100g balls. The colours I used were:
Colour A Clarissa
Colour B Kanoko
Colour C Ballet Russes
Colour D Mrs Dalloway
Colour E Regents Park
Colour F Cloak
Please note that with the yarn I used for the border and edging (Colour F), almost the entire 100g was used with only 3g to spare. If you do not have enough, then reduce the border by one row.
This is a useful pattern for using up odd balls of leftover dk yarn from previous projects. Make it as stripey or as plain as you wish.
This pattern can be adapted for Aran yarn by increasing your hook size to 5mm/size8 (US) and reducing the number of overall rows by from 73 to 68, adjusting the stripes as necessary.
IMPORTANT NOTE
This pattern is written with UK crochet notation. Other countries use different notation. Please check before starting if you have to adjust the pattern for your local notation.
