Chess-A-Peak
Ein diagonal gestrickter Schal im Schachbrettmuster (Chess) mit einer dekorativen Spitze (Peak). Der Name “Chess-A-Peak” spielt gleichzeitig auch auf “Chesapeake” an - der Name eines nordamerikanischen Indianerstammes und mehrerer amerikanischer Orte sowie einer großen Bucht in den USA. Ein Wortspiel! :)

Der Schal sieht am besten aus aus Verlaufsgarnen, denn dann entstehen diagonale “Streifen” und jeder fragt sich, wie man das wohl gemacht hat… ;)

“Chess-A-Peak” is worked in a checkerboard pattern from squares alternating in stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch.
The finished size is adjustable in width as well as in height to make either a neck warmer, a scarf or a large stole.
For the sample in the photos, 110 grams (3.9 oz) of long repeat yarn (original yarn: “Op-Art”) were used.
While any yarn weight will work with this pattern, long color repeat yarns like the ones I sell in my DaWanda store create the attractive bias striped effect without changing colors.

You will need to know: casting on, casting using the backwards loop method or knit on cast on, knit, purl, bind off.
You will need a kitchen or postal scale to weight your yarn before you start work and two times in between.
If you don’t own a kitchen scale, it is probably cheaper to buy an extra skein of yarn than to buy a scale.
