“This is my idea of the perfect knock-around sweater. With a comfy loose turtleneck and slightly oversized fit, it’s incredibly comfortable to wear any time, anywhere. The colorblock stripes are knit in a combination of two tones of yarn to create a unique and richly marled fabric. Worked seamlessly with very little finishing required, it’s a great on-the-go or beginner knitter project.

CONSTRUCTION

• It is possible to combine anywhere from three to six colors (for example, A and B, or B and C, could be the same color); remember that the yarn must be held double throughout. If you wish to use the same color in different sections, add up the yardages to find the amount of yarn you will need.
• Yarn is held double throughout.
• Sweater is worked seamlessly in circular stockinette from the bottom up.
• The Hem and Sleeve Cuffs are worked in 1x1 Ribbing and Collar is worked in 2x2 Ribbing.

MATERIALS
Fingering weight wool yarn in the following approximate amounts:

Version I:
280 (305, 325, 345, 375, 390) yards each of A and B (for lower section)
65 (70, 75, 80, 85, 90) yards each of C and D (for stripe)
890 (990, 1100, 1195, 1320, 1455) yards each of D and E (for upper section)

Version II:
290 (320, 340, 360, 385, 405) yards each of A and B (for lower section)
70 (75, 80, 85, 90, 95) yards each of C and D (for stripe)
885 (980, 1090, 1185, 1310, 1445) yards each of E and F (for upper section)

Brooklyn Tweed Loft (100% American Targhee-Columbia wool; 275 yards/50 g):
Version I: 2 skeins each of A and B; 1 skein each of C and D; 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) skeins each of E and F

Version II: 2 skeins each of A and B; 1 skein each of C and D; 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) skeins each of E and F

GAUGE
16 stitches and 27 rounds = 4” in circular stockinette stitch with Size A needle(s) using 2 strands of yarn, after blocking

NEEDLES
Size A (for Main Fabric):
One each 32”, 24” and 16” circular needles and DPNs* in size needed to obtain gauge listed above
Suggested Size: 5½ mm (US 9)

Size B (for Tubular Cast On, Ribbing, and Collar):
One each 32” and 16” circular needle and DPNs in one size smaller than Size A
Suggested Size: 5 mm (US 8)

Size C (for Collar Only):
One 16” circular needle one size larger than Needle A
Suggested Size: 6 mm (US 10)

32” needle can be used instead of DPNs if using Magic Loop Method
