It is autumn, the trees begin to lose their foliage and the ground is covered with layers of dry leaves of different colors that make noise when walking. In Catalonia, the Castanyada festival is celebrated on October 31, where cooked chestnuts and sweet potatoes are eaten and that is the inspiration for the design of the Chestnuts. Sections 1 and 3 evoke those walks on the leaf litter while sections 2 and 4 are full of chestnuts.
Chestnuts Shawl is a crescent top-down shawl. It alternates color stripes with a beautiful lace (you can knit it following written or charted instructions).

SIZES
One size. Finished measurements (aprox.): 78,74” (200cm) long and 23,62” (60cm) from top to bottom at deepest point after blocking.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 2 skeins of SEDA40 by Feliz y Punto (60% Merino, 40% Silk; 465yds 425m / 100g). Approx. 929yds (850m) of fingering weight yarn. The sample was made using colorway BLOOMING and FUCS (one skein of each).
Needles: US6/4mm (or the needle size you need to obtain gauge 18sts and 48rows in 4” in garter st after blocking) 32” (80cm) cable recommended.
Other: tapestry needle, blocking pins or wires.

ESPAÑOL

Es otoño, los árboles empiezan a perder su follaje y el suelo se cubre de capas de hojas secas de distintos colores que hacen ruido al pasar. Ha llegado el tiempo de comer castastañas y boniatos cocidos. De ahí surge la inspiración para el diseño del Chestnuts. Las secciones 1 y 3 nos evocan esos paseos sobre la hojarasca mientras que las secciones 2 y 4 están llenas de castañas.
El Chestnuts es un chal creciente que se teje de arriba abajo alternando secciones de rayas y secciones de un bonito calado que puedes seguir tanto por instrucciones escritas como por gráfico.

TAMAÑO:
Un tamaño. Medidas terminado (aprox.): 200cm de lado a lado y 60 en el punto más ancho (después de bloquear).

MATERIALES:
Lana: 2 madejas de SEDA40 de Feliz y Punto (60% Merino, 40% Seda; 425m/100g) o 850m de otra lana de grosor fingering o light fingering. El sampler está tejido con los colores BLOOMING y FUCS.
Agujas: se recomiendan agujas circulares con 80cm de cable y de 4mm (o el tamaño necesario para obtener 18 puntos en 48 pasadas en 10cm en punto bobo después de bloquear).
Otros: aguja lanera, bases para bloquear y alfileres.
