Chevron Baby Blanket
The knitting pattern for a baby blanket in a contemporary chevron design. Perfect for beginners - it features a detailed description and only requires knit and purl stitches. The pattern is easy and relaxing, but fun enough to knit.
This design is very sentimental for me, because I first made this blanket while expecting my daughter.
Includes row by row instructions to make two sizes (see below).
SKILL LEVEL: beginner.
NEEDLES: 4.5mm (7 US) OR 5mm (8 US) circular needles.
YARN: Any worsted/aran weight yarn labeled in the range of 75-90 meters per 50g and meeting gauge requirements. Original yarn: Big Merino by Drops, Full by BBB Filati, or Bingo by Lana Grossa.
ORIGINAL GAUGE: 16-20 stitches and 22-27 rows in 10x10cm (4x4’’). The gauge range is so wide because it is not criticall to match the gauge exactly for a blanket. However, if your gauge is outside of this range, consider switching to smaller or larger needles.
SMALL BLANKET SIZE: approx. 60x60 cm (23.6x23.6 in.). Perfect for bassinet or pram.
SMALL BLANKET YARDAGE: at least 7 skeins or 530m (580yds)
LARGE BLANKET SIZE: approx. 90x90 cm (35.4x35.4 in.). Best for crib and large enough to last through the toddler age.
LARGE BLANKET YARDAGE: at least 15 skeins or 1135m (1240yds)
This pattern can be applied to yarn weight and needles needle size using an easy reference table in the Custom Sizes section.
