Here’s a cute little gift for a newborn, in whatever color you have in your stash.

These Chevron Baby Socks are knit top down, with the pattern continuing into the heel flap, and on down to the toe. I found that the pattern needed a larger needle than I usually use for this fingering weight yarn, so that the sock is stretchy.

The Chevron pattern is easy to memorize, and does not require a cable needle. The leg or foot can be lengthened by adding more or less pattern repeats.

The sole is plain stockinette. The last four stitches on the back and front are grafted together. The foot on the sock pictured right is 3.5 inches (9cm) long, just right for a chunky newborn.
