Sometimes I receive requests to try to duplicate a pattern for a vintage type sock, in that it is an old sock and there is no pattern for it. This sock is a case in point. A friend of mine sent me a picture of a sock and asked if I could figure it our and knit a pair for her. I do love these projects as it is like a mystery that has to be solved…and I love a good mystery.

Written for ankle length, and was knitted in Knit Picks Comfy Fingering Cotton (I used one skein but 2 skeins is recommended as depending on the way you knit), this sock can also be knitted in wool as well.

The heel pattern is not written here as it is suggested that you can use any heel pattern you want. The patterned used here was a short row heel but alternates can be a flap or afterthought heel.

The pattern for the ankle is a Chevron pattern (a repeat of 2 rows) and is written for a medium size woman.
