Once I made these, I am wondering how I ever lived without them! These plate cozies are perfect for heating up plates of food in the microwave or just when you are eating hot foods on a plate, it protects your fingers from betting burned. These can also be used as a hot pad or trivet for round dishes, pots or pans.
PATTERN DETAILS:
Language / Instruction: ENGLISH
Skills Level: Easy to Intermediate (due to rounds, and shaping of cozy)
Includes: 3 pg. PDF file, formatted for easy printing or viewing
Finished Size: Cozy measures 12” across from tip to tip on corners, 10” across short sides. Fits any plate that measures up to 11.25 inches in diameter. Flat base of cozy is about 7.25 inches in diameter before sides are added.
Gauge: With K/7mm hook and 2 strands held together; 3 rows of DC = 2 inches high; 11 sts = about 4 inches wide.
Stitches and Techniques used:
• ch = chain
• slst = slip stitch
• st(s) = stitch(s)
• rnd(s) = round(s)
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• dc = double crochet
• flo = front loop only
• magic ring = technique for starting rounds (you can also chain and join to make a ring)
• sc2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
• seamless finish (instructions given)
Materials:
• Medium #4 weight 100% COTTON yarn (or 100% WOOL) in two colors, NO Acrylic, it melts!! You will need about 5 oz/240 yards per cozy TOTAL. (You will work with 2 strands held together; use outside and inside tails of each skein)
• Size K/7mm Crochet Hook
• Stitch Markers; Tapestry Needle
