Chevron Show
This shawl is designed to let the yarn shine. A simple texture and a fun but easy shape makes the yarn show its beauty. Especially self striping yarn and handspun will look gorgeous next to a more solid colour.
Yarn recommendation
The sample is knit in a fingering weight and a handspun yarn close to a sport weight.
Yarn A: BC Garn bio shetland, in evergreen (nr. 72)
Yarn B: handspun, 100% non superwash wool, around sport weight.
Meterage/yardage used for the sample:
Yarn A: 475 m, 520 yd.
Yarn B: 475 m, 520 yd.
It’s very easy to adjust size and use less or more yarn than stated.
The pattern is written for two colours, but it’s easy to use just one, or add more colours if preferred. For example, use a different colour for each stripe made with colour B. That’s a great way to use up scraps or mini skeins.
It’s possible to knit with any yarn weight. Just make sure, when using more than one colour, the yarn weights are not too far apart. Do note that the recommended meterage/yardage and gauge will change when a different yarn weight is used.
Other fibers than wool can be used. The drape will be different. When in doubt, make a swatch to check the drape.
Any colour changing yarn will be beautiful as colour B, some examples are:
Schoppelwolle Zauberball crazy
Schoppelwolle Zauberball stärke 6
Lang Yarns Twin Silk
Regia yarns
Scheepjes Invicta Colour
Gauge & swatch
22 sts x 42 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in pattern, after blocking.
Recommended needle 3,25mm
Best way to determine the needle size is by making a swatch. For this pattern, matching the gauge of the sample is not important. The goal of the swatch is to determine if the fabric has enough drape to make your shawl comfortable to wear.
