Chewie
Han Solo’s faithful friend and copilot of the Millennium Falcon, Chewbacca is one of the most beloved and consistent characters in the Star Wars films, appearing in all three major trilogies. Chewbacca is a Wookiee: extraordinarily tall, strong, and intelligent, covered in brown and caramel-colored fur. His only accessories are a bandolier, carry pouch, and bowcaster. Like most Wookiees, Chewie is willing to put his life on the line for friendship and honor. He is loyal to his copilot until the end and carries on with their mission long after Han Solo’s death in The Force Awakens.
This cuddly Chewie is knit in the round from the bottom up for minimal finishing, and you will stuff as you go. The feet and legs are worked first, then joined together with additional casted-on stitches for the body and head. Eyes, nose, and arms placement are all marked with purl bumps to ensure proper positioning. The bag portion of the bandolier is knit in the round with half the stitches bound off and the remaining stitches worked flat to create the flap. The strap is knit flat in two colors with the yarns carried up the side. Simple straight stitching creates a mouth. After completion, the yarn is brushed vigorously to create a fuzzier appearance.
