Chibui Child's Tunisian Vest
This pattern is designed to meet the guidelines of Wool-Aid, a charitable organization that focuses on helping keep children warm around the world. Wool-Aid has their own guidelines for vests and this pattern meets those guidelines. The Wool-Aid sizing aims to allow children to have space to grow within the garment.
I designed this pattern to be easy and quick to make with very little time spent on finishing. The whole vest is made sideways in one piece, shoulders are seamed as you crochet, and there are only two ends to weave in.
Chest circumference:
26, 27.5, 30, 32, 34, 36.5”
65, 68.75, 75, 80, 85, 91.25cm
Yoke:
6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9”
16.25, 17.5, 18.75, 20, 21.25, 22.5cm
Armhole to hem:
8.5, 10, 11.5, 13, 14.5, 14.5”
21.25, 25, 28.75, 32.5, 36.25, 36.25cm
Skills required:
- Basic stitches – Tunisian simple stitch, slip stitch, and chain
- Basic shaping – single stitch increases and decreases
- Provisional cast on
- Involved seaming – shoulders are seamed as you go and final almost invisible seam
- Involved pattern reading – pattern uses defined abbreviations and involved repeats denoted by brackets
You can sell items made from this pattern as long as credit is given to designer, though please consider making a vest to donate, too!
