This is a basic pattern for a chicken dishtowel.

One would need to know:
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
trc: triple crochet
sc2tog: single crochet 2 together
dc2tog: double crochet 2 together

What is a picot:
In this pattern, you wil ch 3 at the end of a dc and then slip st back at the start of the picot.

This is what I have used:
Dc, picot, dc = double crochet, ch 3, sl st in ch 1 space, double crochet

Not much yarn is needed. It could be made with “a better amount” of scrap yarn.
