Size: Instructions are for one size, approximately 3.25 inches long, 2.25 inches tall (bottom to top of back), 3.5 inches tall (bottom to top of head)

Yarn: Approximately 25 yards of aran weight yarn for the chicken body (chickens pictured were knit with a variety of Aran Supersaver yarn by Red Heart)
Approx. 2 yds red fingering weight yarn for the comb (pictured is Patons kroy sock yarn)
Approx. 1 yd orange fingering weight yarn for the beak (pictured is Patons kroy sock yarn)

Needles: Set of 5mm (US 8) straight knitting needles
Set of 3.25mm (US 3) straight knitting needles for the comb & beak

Gauge: 7 sts and 13 rows = 5 cm (2 inches) in garter stitch.

Other Materials: half yard length of black or white fingering weight yarn or embroidery thread for eyes
tapestry needle for seaming chicken together and weaving in ends
plastic egg or large chicken egg for stuffing the chicken.
