These leg warmers are designed for women with larger calves. They go round mine, which are about 44 cm at the widest point. They have a couple of cm give and would stay up on someones legs who are a couple of cm smaller as well. There are notes in the pattern on how to adjust size. They are approx. 44cm in length. (If you decide to make them larger in width, you will need to buy another ball of yarn)
The body of the leg warmers are knitted in fir cone lace with simple 2 x 2 ribbing at the top and the bottom. The New Lanark Aran yarn is great to work with and gies a lovely texture as well!
The fir cone lace is easy to knit and the pattern is easy to remember, so a good one if you like to knit on the move! These knit up quickly too.
If anyone else knits these and uses the New Lanark Yarn, please let me know how your meterage goes. I had one ball that had about 8 meters left, and had just enough from the other ball!
