Children in Common Socks
From the book: “These socks, because of their short leg length and larger gauge, are quicker to knit than most socks, and a good way to practice short-row skills. The children in Russian orphanages use them mostly as slippers for indoor wear instead of shoes; hence their shorter leg. If you wish to make a more traditionally shaped sock, simply knit the leg to the desired length.
“Depending on the yarn you choose (remember that wool is preferable for children in Russia) these socks will be quite thick when finished--and the heavier and sturdier they are, the better. Toward that end, and option for a slightly felted sock is included.”
Size note: To fit Small (Medium, Large, Extra-Large) Child 6.5 (7.25, 8, 8.75)“ circumference.
