Child's button up vest in 8 ply
Clever Hands Knitting Pattern 51
This button up vest features one of my favourite, super-easy stitches, a caterpillar stitch; a horizontal version of this stitch has been used. The stitch creates a fantastic textured effect and the vest provides that perfect extra layer of warmth for children. This vest has been created in sizes 2, 4 & 6.
Suitable for a knitter with basic experience. The knitting pattern uses an easy 8 row pattern that repeats throughout the garment. The armholes and neckline of the front pieces have shaping. Armhole bands involve picking up and knitting stitches along armhole edges then rows of ribbing and casting off loosely. The front band has 5 simple buttonholes plus buttons to sew in position. Sewing skills include joining the shoulder and side seams plus attaching the front band.
The green vest (size 2) was made with 2 x Ashford Double Knit 100g balls Forest 831.
The blue vest (size 4) was made with 2 x Naturally Gallipoli DK/8ply 100g balls Athens 1927.
The multicoloured vest (size 6) was made with 3 x 100g 4 Seasons Pure Wool Entwine Pastel Stripes.
