Child's flowered vest
Minor crocheting skill is necessary for the dangling flowers.
My niece has gone through two of these vests, starting when she was 4. The great thing is that children’s chest sizes don’t grow as much as their height in the early years, so the vest starts off with the flowers hanging over the waistband of their jeans, then ends up as a shortie vest, kind of like a shrug, which is how it was designed, as they grow taller.
I originally designed this shortie vest in an adult size for me, and people asked me to make it in the children’s sizes.
I was a little worried entrusting a 100% wool vest to my sister-in-law, who is not a knitter. Luckily it survived due to her frugalness - the vest gets thrown in with her regular laundry but she always washes in COLD water, and then she would lay the vest flat to dry on top of the washing machine. I’d recommend a delicate or hand wash, though, if you’re using pure wool yarn!
