I think most crocheters like to have a quick project in their library that works up simply. This hat was made to have ready for markets, family sets, and last minute gifting. 7 sizes are written into the pattern as well as instructions to change the fit for a slouchy style. There is a matching headband available as well in my shops. The sample is made with Lion Brand Hue + Me. Two good substitutes are Michael’s Loops and Threads Charisma yarn or Red Heart Soft Essentials. Use an L (8mm) hook make this very cozy hat!
