Chilli Hottie is a hot water bottle cover, knitted in the round using a three-colour stranded technique in natural shades of pure wool, creating a cuddly comforter with a bold geometric design.
The stitch patterns are inspired by a sample of a chilli pod that I viewed under my microscope and then turned first into a drawing and then into stitches. In turn I was inspired by the pioneering botanist Nehemiah Grew. In the late 1600s he was one of the first people to record and study the deceptively simple, rhythmic and organised beauty of plant cells. The Chilli hottie is designed to reflect those qualities and fit a standard 2 litre hot water bottle.
I hope that you find it a satisfying knit with a mix of manual dexterity and flow.
