China Doll
China Doll was designed to look like a real antique china doll from the 1800’s.
My goal was to construct her as the originals were, so all pieces are worked separately, in the round, and seamed to the body afterward. The only exception to this is the head which is worked back and forth and uses the intarsia method of colorwork. She stands 15 inches tall.
The yarn colors I chose for this pattern are based on traditional china dolls as well. Her torso and upper limbs are knit in beige to look like old muslin. Her lower limbs, shoulder plate, and face are knit in white to resemble china. Black is used for her shoes and hair.
This PDF includes instructions for her underwear (a chemise and pantalettes) which are edged with vintage lace. A Victorian Walking Suit for her to wear is available from my Ravelry designer page.
Heartfelt thanks to my hand-picked test knitter: borculo.
