In ancient Greek mythology, Chione was responsible for snowfall. As I designed this shawl, I imagined Chione weeping at the approach of winter; her tears become snowflakes which fall gently to the ocean below. Chione’s Tears Shawl is crescent shaped, beginning at top center back and worked down and outward. An expanding center panel echoes the design elements. Although the lace patterns look intricate, they are appropriate for the intermediate lace knitter.
