Chloe's Newsboy
This is a simple and quick, but adorable Newsboy that I designed for my little girl. I wanted something with some texture and visual appeal that was also warm. My daughter loves to wear her hat and we get several compliments every time we go out!
The pattern comes in four sizes from 6-12 month to Adult. The hat holds its shape well, but has lots of stretch in the ribbed area. The patterns for the flower and band embellishments are included, along with ideas for other ways to jazz up your hat.
The gauge is simply the first four rows of the pattern, which is the same for every size of the hat. So you just start making the hat and check the measurements after you complete Round 4. No need to make an extra swatch before starting! The first 4 rounds of the pattern should make a 4 1/2” hexagon.
The hat takes up to 4 oz of yarn to complete. The flower only needs 6 yds each of 3 complimentary colors (one could be the hat color), something you can likely find in your stash of leftovers. If you make the band, you only need 6 yds of the hat color and a couple buttons!
A big Thank-you to cellochic and my other pattern testers!
