This shawl came to life last April when my good friend Tina Marie an- nounced she was getting married. I wanted to mark the occasion with a special gift that would serve as part of her wedding day ensemble, but be wearable beyond that glorious day of matrimony - with that
in mind the Wedding Bells Shawl was born. With those wedding bells ringing delightfully in my ears I began crocheting away at this special project, and the bells did more than ring in my ears - they inspired my choice of stitches as the shell stitch clusters used in this pattern reminded me of wedding bells. Crocheted in a snowy white it was perfect - as was our bride!

The shawl was a big hit and I’ve been asked to make it again on several occasions - and not just for brides. It looks great in just about any color you could imagine - preferably in solid to semi-solid colors so as not to lose your stitch work. That said, this piece would also be striking in a long color repeat yarn - just leave the short colored variegated yarns alone for this project.
