Chonk Socks
The chonk socks are designed for super stash busting and mini skeins, using up 4 strands of sock yarn at the same time – even the tiniest little scraps! They are super thick and comfy, perfect for lounging about & ensuring your feet are toasty in all weathers.
yarn
Use any 4 strands of sock-weight yarns held together which will achieve gauge.
Given the ‘scrappy’ nature of this pattern, it’s difficult to give a truly accurate yardage estimate. If you used lots of little scraps and therefore have more ends to weave in, you could end up needing more yarn than is suggested here so please take this as a guide.
Any standard sock yarn (400yds/366m per 100g): Size 1 (400yds/366m, 100g), Size 2 (436yds/398.6m, 109g), Size 3 (512yds/468m, 128g), Size 4 (548yds/501m, 136g), Size 5 (584yds/534m, 146g).
needles
6mm circular needles (the cable length does not matter for the magic loop method).
6mm set of double-pointed needles can also be used.
gauge
Knit in stocking stitch on 6mm needles: 13 stitches and 22 rows per 4”/10cm.
sizes
I would recommend no more than ½” of negative ease.
Size Sock Circumference Foot Circumference
1 7”/17.8cm 7 ½”/19cm
2 7 ½”/19cm 8”/20.3cm
3 8 ½”/21.6cm 9”/22.8cm
4 9”/22.8cm 9 ½”/24cm
5 10”/25.4cm 10 ½”/26.7cm
