Chonky Bee inspired by TikTok
This ‘Chonky Bee’ Amigurumi pattern is inspired by the super cute bees I have seen on TikTok. He is a happy, super squishy (especially if using the Bernat or Bella Baby yarns) and great to cuddle… perfect for all ages.
I have a comprehensive and ‘easy-to-follow’ tutorial on YouTube should you be a beginner crocheter or would like some extra helpful tips along the way.
The finished size of your ‘Chonky Bee’ will depend on the yarn and hook size you choose. For the exact same pattern the -
- GOLD BEE I used the Bernat ‘Blanket’ yarn and a 7mm hook;
- PINK BEE I used Bella Baby ‘Nippers’ yarn and a 4mm hook;
- Red Heart ‘ Super Saver’ yarn and a 4mm hook will result in a slightly smaller size than the pink bee.***
YOU WILL NEED:
- Yarn (three colours of your choice)
- Hook (size suitable for your yarn)*
- Fibre/Poly fill
- Safety eyes x2 (to suit the bee’s finished size)**
- Scissors
- Needle (large enough to thread the yarn)
- Stitch marker (paper clip, safety pin would do)
- Felt (cheeks, eyes, bee-hind decoration etc)
NOTES:
* Gauge is not important, as with all Amigurumi projects, you want to choose a yarn and hook combination that shows no holes or gaps through it when crocheting so as to NOT see any fibre fill when the project is stuffed.
** For the MEGA Chonky gold bee I used 24mm or 1” safety eyes and the pink bee I used 12mm or 1/2” safety eyes - both could be substituted for felt eyes. I recommend safety eyes if this project is for a child.
*** x1 skein (x2 for Baby Bella ‘Nippers’) of the main colour yarn is required, and smaller quantities of the stripe and wings colours will be needed.
