Choose your Edging Shawl
Welcome to Choose your Edging Shawl along! Please choose whether you would like to knit Shawl 1, Shawl 2, or Shawl 3. Then choose the appropriate needle size and wash and block a gauge swatch. Once you have gotten gauge for your selected shawl complete instructions Chart A and Chart B. Then work the next chart based on your selection. For Shawl 1 work Chart C-Shawl 1. For Shawl 2 work Chart D-Shawl 2. For Shawl 3 work Chart E-Shawl 3. It is crucial to meet your gauge on this project, if you are not able to do so I would recommend purchasing additional yarn.
The Choose your Edging Shawl was written exclusively for the Tilli Tomas’ beautiful Beaded Plie yarn, we’ll be hosting a KAL in the Fickle Knitter Design Group on ravelry from June 23 - July 14, 2013! If you missed out on the kit, don’t worry. You can now purchase the pattern online and knit along with stash yarn.
The Choose your Edging Shawl is traditional triangle shawl knit from the neck to the long edge. The shawl has a knit-on border which means it’s not necessary to bind off 145+ stitches at once! The bold knit-on edging is worked back and forth over 17-21 stitches and a k2tog with the main body stitches every other row eliminates the large bind off stitch by stitch. This is a great shawl for beginning-intermediate Lace Knitters.
If you have a question while knitting please join the Fickle Knitter Design ravelry group for help. This is a great shawl for beginning-intermediate Lace Knitters, if you can knit, purl, yarn over, k2tog, ssk, and work a short row you can knit this shawl! If you get stuck please visit the Fickle Knitter rav group or email me at fickleknitterdesign@yahoo.com for help.
Yarn substitution may result in a change in estimated yardage, gauge and finished size of your individual project.
A note about Gauge
Are you a tight knitter or a loose knitter? If you are a loose knitter please consider going down a few needle sizes. If you are a tight knitter you may have to go up a few sizes to get gauge. Your swatch should be stretched after you’ve soaked it in water and then pinned it out to make it wider to dry, just as you would with the finished shawl.
