Chota Coat
“chota” means small in Hindi (छोटा: chōṭā pronounced ‘cho’ ‘ta’ (& “ta” as you’d say for ‘thanks’ in short :)).
This little frock coat has been designed for children between 1 - 3 yrs. It is a simple repeat and uses very easy basic stitches. This frock coat has been designed to go over a skirt / pinafore with a similar pattern.
This pattern has been tested using :
a) Vardhaman Millenium ; 75 gms / 250 yds ; 4.5 mm crochet hook ;
b) Simply Soft ; about 600 yds total ; “D” crochet hook ; Gauge: 2 small shells across x 2 small shells high = 1”
Comments : Instructions, illustrations and photos were all clear ; abbreviations were explained just fine ; took about 5 hrs altogether.
Skill level by tester : Beginner
c) Red heart sport , 80 gms / 188 yds ; 3.5 mm crochet hook ;
Gauge : Matched pattern gauge
Comments : Instructions clear ; Illustrations / photos useful especially when it came to joining ; All techniques / abbreviations well explained ; Took about 4 hrs
Skill level by tester : Intermediate mainly due to the attachment (which I find “hard”)
