This is a luxury version of a Victorian style Santa hat made in alpaca silk although the pattern can be used to knit this in any Aran weight yarn. The fur is not a fancy fur yarn; it is made from knitting loop stitch with the alpaca silk yarn then cutting the loops and combing out to make fleece. The pointed shape is achieved by making paired decreases around a point which is clearly instructed in the pattern.
