We love to add at least one new handmade decoration to the Christmas tree each year, so this year I decided to design a little Christmas tree decoration, complete with its own sparkly baubles. I hope you enjoy it!

The pattern has been tech edited & thoroughly tested by a large group of fabulous testers to ensure accuracy & clarity. There are handy tips, photos & video links to help with any potentially tricky parts.

Skill level: Adventurous beginner / intermediate.

Materials required:

Yarn: 10 yards / 9 metres of #3 weight, dk, light worsted yarn. I recommend 100% cotton yarn as it gives great stitch definition & holds shape well, but you could use any yarn composition for this project.

Hooks: 3.5mm (E-4) crochet hook or hook needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors, & stiffening agent (optional).

Finished measurements:

Your finished tree, if you work to gauge, will be 4.25” high & 3.5” wide.

However, you can use any weight yarn you like for different sizes of tree. I recommend using a hook size one or two sizes smaller than that recommended on your yarn ball band.

Construction:

This tree is constructed from the bottom up in rows & then finished with a simple edging all around.

Gauge:

9 sts x 11 rows = 2” x 2” or 5cm x 5cm in SC (US) / DC (UK)
