Christmas break cast sock
This simple, quick-to-crochet cast sock is a perfect pattern for using small amounts of yarn in your stash: the tree requires between 30 and 70 yards of a medium yarn (depending on the size you want to make), and the star requires about 4 yards of either a fine or light yarn.
Straps worked as part of the last round at the base of the tree tie behind the heel or wrap around to tie in front. Stitches are worked in the front loops only to create decorative ridges on the tree. Beads and buttons embellish the tree and optional bell jingle merrily at the ends of the straps.
When your “Christmas Break” has healed, tuck the straps inside the tree along with a few crumpled plastic grocery sacks or some tissue paper, and use the tree as a holiday decoration.
