A simple to knit and practical to wear fulled woollen cloche is offered with three different brim pattern variations. Quick to knit in aran weight wool, the hat is given shape and substance by fulling and blocking to shape and can be easily modified by adding a few initial rounds if you would like a deeper finished hat.

Full photo instructions are provided for the knitted holly leaf and berries, a versatile leaf form that can be put to any number of other uses and which can be made from just a few yards of yarn in almost any weight- though dk gives a particularly pleasing finished leaf.

Written instructions are also given for suggested alternative trimmings, included a felted from fibre poinsettia or ivy trim, and tips on attaching a ribbon hatband.
