I was inspired to knit these coasters after reading the book ‘Magic Motifs, Knitting with a secret message’ by Carla Meijsen.
I loved the fact that you could convert words into numbers and then the numbers into a chart which produced a really lovely knitting pattern (I am a bit of a numbers geek!).

Using the secret message technique, I knitted myself a Christmas jumper and in doing so created some gauge swatches which I then ‘tweaked’ to make these lovely Christmas coasters which say ‘Christmas’.
You can use two contrasting coloured Worsted weight yarns or
for added sparkle, add a strand of silver to a contrasting white at a DK weight to give an extra Christmassy feel!

Min two colours of yarn, 4.5mm needles and a tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
