Are you looking for a fun Christmas activity to do with your whole family? Are you looking for a way to countdown to Christmas Eve/Day? Are you looking for reusable option for the classic paper chains countdown activity?

You’ve come to the right place. This pattern will walk you through how to crochet your own “paper” chains to help you and your family countdown to Christmas!

The options on how to customize this design to your needs is endless. Yarn, color palette, amount, and purpose are all easily customizable to suit your needs.

This pattern includes two designs: one crochet and one Tunisian crochet. Both designs are beginner friendly and don’t require a Tunisian style crochet hook. A regular hook will work just fine.

Gauge is not crucial to the completion of this pattern. You will want to use an appropriate hook for your yarn so that the stitches are tight but won’t make the chain curl. Tunisian stitches tend to curl so you might need to size up for the Tunisian design. Also consider that very stretchy yarns might not be the best if there is a lot of weight to the finished chains. This pattern is also a perfect stash buster!

Skill level: Beginner

Materials needed:
-Weight 4 yarn in choice of colors. Approximately 15-20 yds per chain.
-Crochet hook to match gauge
-Scissors
-Yarn needle
-Measuring tape
-1 button per chain. Approximately 15 mm across
