Festive knit for your dog! The Christmas hat for dogs is a fun project that will make you happy and will keep your dog’s ears warm at walks.

This is not a typical knitting pattern, it’s an illustrated knitting instruction. Each step has a photo and description.

This pattern can be made in any size, so is suitable for all dogs.
Dog measurements that you’ll need:

1. Head circumference
2. Neck length
3. Neck base circumference

The hat includes a leash opening.

Materials needed:
Aran weight yarn (wool) - red and white
Circular needles (5mm; US size 8)
Darning needle
Soft measuring tape
1 knit marker (optional)

Red yarn amount:
Toy breeds ~ 1 skein of yarn (50 grams)
Small and medium breeds ~ 2 skeins of yarn (50 grams each)
Large breeds ~ 3 skeins of yarn (50 grams each)
(The actual yardage will vary from dog to dog)

White yarn amount:
Less than 1 skein for any size

Skills needed:
Long-tail cast on
Knitting in round
Flat knitting with slip stitch edge

This pattern uses a special, extra stretchy bind-off, both written and photo instructions are provided for that.
