SKILLS NEEDED

• The skill level needed is intermediate (but ambitious beginners are always encouraged to try!).
• The techniques you will need to know include: chain, working in the back bar of the chain, single crochet, standing single crochet, slip stitch, increase, invisible decrease, regular single crochet decrease, bobble, double crochet, treble crochet, the invisible join, the adjustable (magic) ring, and surface crochet or hand embroidery.

MATERIALS NEEDED
+ To complete the Christmas Elf Gnome you will need: yarn in your choice of colors (about 253 yds/231 m of worsted/aran and about 4 yds/4 m of the furry yarn), a size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, stitch markers, tapestry needle, stuffing, pins, scissors, and a chopstick to help with stuffing small spaces.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
+ Using hook size E/4 (3.5 mm) in the sitting position without the hat, the Christmas Elf Gnome measures approximately 4.5 inches/11.4 cm. Sitting with the hat measures approximately 7 inches/18 cm with a bent hat and 10 inches/25 cm with a straight hat (not including the legs).
