Nothing shows how much you care for someone as well as a hand knitted Christmas sweater! Spread the love and Christmas spirit by knitting up a personalized letter sweater ornament for your friends and family! This pattern is inspired by the sweet sweaters Molly Weasley knits the kids for Christmas with their initial on the front. The example photos are of Harry and Ron’s sweaters but there are colour work charts for every letter in the alphabet included, so you can personalize it. Have the tree ornament be a present on its own, or use it as a gift tag that they can use on the tree later!

This pattern uses two colours of sock yarn knitted double-stranded, one colour for the base and an accent colour for the letter. You’ll only need to purchase one 50 gram skein of each colour and divide them in half into two cakes. The pattern is for a 11cm mini raglan sweater, knitted top down with a folded collar and colour work letter on the front. There is a photo tutorial on how to twist metal wire into a mini hanger for your sweater ornament.

Gauge is 4 inches by 4 inches (10cm by 10cm) 32 st and 48 rows when knitted with 2.75mm needles. The blocked mini sweater will measure approximately 11cm tall and 8cm wide (18cm wide if you measure cuff to cuff). The ornament measures approximately 13.5cm tall with the hanger.

Materials Needed:

1 50g skein of light fingering weight yarn/sock yarn of the base colour.
1 50g skein of light fingering weight yarn/sock yarn of the accent letter colour.
A set of 5 2mm double-pointed needles.
A set of 5 2.75mm double-pointed needles.
18 Gauge metal wire. Wire cutters. 2 pliers. (for hanger)
Measuring tape.
Tapestry needle.
Stitch markers.
