Christmas Lights Shawl
Christmas is celebrated in many different ways across the world, but one thing that’s common in many cultures is the tradition of stringing Christmas lights - in the streets, around the home, and on the Christmas tree - reflections of the star of the Christmas story.
This semi-circular shawl has Christmas Trees radiating from a star, with beaded lace motifs sparkling like decorative lights. It is knitted from the top centre-back outwards.
The instructions are provided for three sizes, a shawlette, and a medium and large shawl, and are in two formats – as charts, and as written instructions.
You can download the first two pages of the pattern, with yarn and bead requirements and approximate measurements for each size, as a free pattern preview.
A table listing the percent complete for each section for each size can be downloaded as a one-page .pdf file here.
While the lace stitches are not complex, the pattern has five sections/charts and requires some concentration in places, so it is recommended for intermediate knitters.
A note about printing: Because the pattern contains 5 sections, and both written and charted instructions, it is 14 pages long. To preserve ink, paper, etc., those wishing to use only the charts should print only pages 1 - 7. Those wishing to use the written instructions should print pages 1 - 3 and 8 - 14.
