⚠ Please note: This listing is for a digital crochet pattern download only, not a physical toy. It is written in English only, using US terminology. If you would prefer UK terminology, please let me know and I can provide this. The pattern will be available to download immediately after purchase. It has been independently tested, and contains detailed instructions with high quality photos. ⚠
ABOUT THE PATTERN
The pattern starts from the top of the head and works down, incorporating the arms and feet as you crochet. The hat and hair are then crocheted as one piece. There is some sewing required for attaching the eyes, moustache and hat and a little simple embroidery for the eyebrows and buckle. I’ve provided options for either safety eyes or crocheted eyes. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, Eggy Santa reaches a height of approximately 12cm (with hat folded down). I’d love to see your completed projects; feel free to share them by tagging me on Instagram @dreamweave.creations or visiting my Facebook page, DreamWeave Creations.
SKILL LEVEL
I have assigned an intermediate skill level to this pattern. While the majority of it involves simple stitches, it also includes bobble stitch and surface slip stitch and requires some assembly when sewing components together. Additionally, the hair is made using loop stitch and some of the smaller components can be a bit fiddly. All stitches are fully explained within the pattern.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Chosen yarn in desired colours. The following yarns in DK weight have been used in the pattern:
- Red for clothes and hat
- Skin colour
- White for hair, fluff on hat, facial hair and eye whites
- Black for belt, gloves and shoes
- Brown for sack
- Small amount of gold for buckle and sack drawstring
- Small amounts of bright colours for presents
- If you are opting for crocheted pupils, you will also need a tiny amount of black and white. I used a thinner yarn for this (5 ply / sport weight) along with a slightly smaller hook. You can use the same weight yarn but they will turn out slightly larger than in the photographs.
2.5mm crochet hook
12mm Safety eyes or a small amount of black yarn if crocheting the eyes
Toy stuffing
Scissors
Pins
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers
Small pom pom maker (optional)
Feel free to explore variations by swapping out yarn, safety eyes and hook sizes to achieve a different outcome, and get creative with experimenting with various colours.
