Christmas tree
The custom of the spruced up Christmas tree started over 2,000 years ago. In Europe, the most popular Christmas trees are the Nordmann or Caucasian fir, the European spruce and the blue spruce. You can just choose which species your Christmas tree will be. Decorating the tree is the best part of the project, so make sure to deck out your teeny tiny tree lavishly and luxuriantly and give it a chance to outshine and overshadow your grown-up shrub!
This 7.5 cm Christmas tree is an easy, fast and super fun project, knitted in the round in Scheepjes Riverwashed (954) Congo and the robust looking Scheepjes Stonewashed (822) brown agate on 2.00 mm (US 0, UK 14) double pointed needles. It was stuffed with soft toy filling.
The snow was crocheted on with a 1.25 mm crochet hook and the tinsel and baubles were done as i-cords on 1.25 mm needles, all in lace-gauged yarn.
Everything can be made in heavier yarn on thicker needles and will turn out somewhat larger.
Happy holiday knitting! Viv
