A Christmas gift for you! 50% off through Dec 31, 2023!!

Christmas is such a fun, and sometimes stressful, time for knitters! So many wonderful Christmas yarns make their way into the yarn shops. I wanted a hat and matching cowl that would show off the beautiful colors of the season, use only ONE SKEIN, and be a great thing to make as a gift, or to keep! But it had to be a quick, easy pattern because let’s face it, we all have too many projects on the needles and they all need to be done quickly! With its cute lace section that reminded me of little Christmas trees and an easy to memorize repeat, this set fit the bill perfectly! I hope you find it as enjoyable as I did!

Materials:
● Yarn: 1 skein fingering weight yarn for both.
Hat uses approx 232 yds/50g
Cowl uses approx 188 yds/40g

Samples were done in Hadlock Girls Yarn - Workhorse (463 yds/100g) in Christmas Mystery Box colorway

● Needles: US size 3 (3.25 mm) - in 16”
circular and dpns (or your preferred method for knitting in the round.)

● Notions: Stitch markers (optional), tapestry needle for weaving in ends, scissors, tape

Gauge:
Worked over stockinette st washed and blocked 26 sts x 34 rows = 4”/10cm.

Size and Final Measurements: One size fits most adults.
Hat: stretches to fit up to 22 inches. Final measurement 20 inch circumference x 9in, after blocking.
Cowl: 22 inch circumference x 10 in tall

Notes/Tips:
1. Both patterns are done seamlessly, in the round.

  1. Written and charted instructions are included so you can choose which way you prefer to work the pattern.

  2. Use of stitch markers are optional, but I find it helpful to identify the placement of the chart section on the hat and where the repeats are on the cowl.

  3. For a slouchier fit on the hat or cowl you can go up a needle size. And/or add another repeat of the chart on the hat before starting decreases. This will affect yardage.
