Here’s a quick last-minute gift you can make this Christmas! The Christmas Tree Mug Rug is made using my barrel stitch pattern (if you look closely, it looks like there are little barrels stacked in each row) and is knit on any 3/8” gauge loom, like Knitting Board’s Flexee skinny loom links or the All N One loom.

The finished coaster is 6.5” tall and 5” wide. Once you see how easy it is to knit up, you can add more pegs to make a trivet. Or hang these on your tree. Or attach to a gift for a cute gift tag. Or make a bunch and string together to make garland for your mantle. There are all sorts of fun possibilities!

The mug rug uses approximately 20 yards of a worsted weight yarn in green for the body and approximately 5 yards of a worsted weight yarn in brown for the trunk. This cute little guy is great for using up your leftover yarn from other projects.
