A quick gift to knit in double knitting weight yarn for Christmas presents or just hang on your tree!

Use up your oddments as both the tree and ring are really easy & quick to make. If you’re a fast knitter you’ll have both the tree and ring finished in no time, but if you’re not so fast like me it may take you around 1.5 evenings to make both the ring and the tree.
Each tree needs approx 10g of DK weight yarn (ring needs approx 30g).

Dimensions

  • Tree size (without hanging loop) approx 7.5cms (3inches) high x 6cms (2 1/4 inches) wide x 2.5cms (1inch) deep.
  • Ring toy outer diameter 11.5cms (4 1/2 inches) wide x 5cms (2inches) deep.

Written pattern includes:-

  • Instructions for either knitting the ring it in the round or knitting it flat.
  • How to make the knitted loop for the Christmas tree to make an ornament for your tree or just use it as a festive buggy/pram toy.
  • Step by step photo tutorial & instructions for the Christmas tree bullion stitch bauble embroidery.
  • Step by step photo tutorial & instructions for invisibly sewing the ring closed using mattress stitch.. horizontally across the 2x2 rib inner ring sections.

PLEASE NOTE! Any weight of yarn could be used to make these.. the amount of yarn you’ll need will vary slightly. Just choose a needle size 0.5cm - 1cm smaller than the needle size considered normal for your yarn, this way your stuffing doesn’t show through your finished tree or ring :) Plus if it’s not going to be given to a child then it’s safe to decorate them with beads, mini buttons, sequins!
