Supplies needed
E-beads (or beads with a large enough hole to put a small crochet hook through)
Small crochet hook (I used a US 14/ 0.75mm)
Fingering weight yarn- about 30 yards of green and 10 yards of brown
US Size 1 or 2 needles – style doesn’t matter
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Stuffing (can be polyfil, yarn scraps, lavender, etc)
Ribbon for hanging (optional)

A note about construction
Gauge doesn’t matter, but your fabric does. Make sure your Christmas tree is solid enough to not let the stuffing show through the ornament. For me, this was about 8 stitches an inch- gauged without beads.
This tree is worked flat (back and forth) in one piece, folded and sewn at the end.
Beads are fun, but optional. If you are adding beads, don’t add them to the first two OR the last two rows of the tree, or the first or last two stitches of each row. They will get in the way during assembly. If you want to add some bling to the edges, you can add beads while you’re sewing or crocheting your tree closed. You may leave as is, or add a ribbon to hang it.
How to add beads: Place a bead on your crochet hook. Pick up the stitch where you’d like to add a bead with that crochet hook. Pull the bead down over the stitch, and return stitch to left needle. Knit as usual. Alternately, you could pre-string your beads onto the green yarn and drop in as desired. I only added beads on knit rows, but there’s no reason you can’t add them on purl rows too.
