Christmas Tree Ornament
A quick, fun little project. A great stash buster!
They take me about an hour or so to make. I’m planning on doing them in rainbow colors. I haven’t tried a multi colored yarn yet, that would be fun!
Please do post your projects, I love to see them!
The pattern is very detailed with lots of pictures
Supplies:
Yarn in two colors: Color A – Pictured dark green and Aspen. Color B – White (or light green, or…)
The samples pictured were made with Hobbii Rainbow cotton 8/4, which is a #1 superfine and another with Stylecraft Special DK. You can make it in any weight yarn, just switch the hook to a size appropriate to the yarn. Your ornament will just be a bit bigger or smaller.
You only use a small amount of yarn, about 45 yards of the main color, maybe 20 of the highlight color
Hook: I used a 2.5 mm (C) crochet hook for the thin cotton yarn and a 3.0 mm (D) for the dk version.
Tapestry needle, one bead, stitch marker
Gauge: not important, my finished ornaments in the 8/4 cotton yarn are about 3.25” tall, excluding the bead and hanging loop. In the dk yarn, about 3.5” tall
Stitches (US terms): Ch: Chain, Sl: Slip Stitch, Sc: Single Crochet, Hdc: Half Double Crochet, Dc: Double crochet, Tr: Triple crochet.
BLO: Back Loop Only. These are stitches worked into the back loop of the V of the stitch, instead of both loops. In this pattern you will be doing BLO Tr – Back loop only triple crochet
