Inspired by the textured border pattern that resembles Christmas Trees, this skirt is a perfect addition to any Christmas decor. Made in Aran weight yarn, it’s a fast and enjoyable knit, and you will be able to make your skirt in a week’s time. Lighter colors of yarn will showcase the border pattern, and will create the illusion of the snow covering the base of the tree. The pattern is easy to follow, making this a perfect project for an adventurous beginner.

The skirt is knitted sideways, using German Short rows (Double Stitches.) The textured lace pattern (referred to as Border Pattern) is worked at the beginning of each RS and at the end of each WS row, creating the decorative border. The Border Pattern consists of 2 small edge panels and a larger central panel, that are easy to memorize and work without much reference. The two patterns have different row repeats, but after working through the first 14 rows you will be able to remember the very short 4 row repeats of the side panels, and would only need to refer to the pattern for the central panel, highlighted in bold in the written pattern description. You could adjust the total number of skirt body repeats to make your skirt as full as you would like, or the number of CO stitches, changing the number of stitches prior to the border, to make a larger or smaller diameter skirt.
