This is a written pattern for a windspinner that looks like a Christmas tree. It includes some pictures to explain details.
It’s not necessary to sew parts together, you can join them as you go.

The level is intermediate.

Materials you need:

  • yarn, about 180 yards of green yarn, about 11 yards of brown yarn, and a few yards of thinner yarn for the star on top of the tree
  • stuffing, only for the top and for the trunk
  • beads
  • a thread for hanging the windspinner. You can use nylon thread or another thin but strong cord.

I used acrylic yarn (Stylecraft Special dk or Scheepjes colourcrafter, which is about 295 m/322 yards per 100 gram) and hooksize 3.0 and 3.5.
I used thinner yarn (Scheepjes Lizzy) for the star, and hooksize 2.0.

My windspinner was about 29 cm/11.4 inches high, not counting the star on top of the tree, and 12.5 cm/4.9 inches diameter.

Terms and (US-)terms used in this pattern:

  • mc = magic circle
  • ch = chainstitch
  • slst = slipstitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • trc = treble crochet
  • incr = increase
  • decr = decrease
  • flo = frontloop only
  • blo = backloop only
  • picot (only for the star)

I hope you like this tree windspinner!
