Christmassy Pillowcase
If you want to improve your knitting skills before you start much bigger project, this Christmassy Pillowcase knitting pattern is exactly what you need! So, if you have some yarn stash - ready steady go!
You need to know how to work cables and simple stitches as knit and purl, also make pompoms.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
MATERIALS REQUIRED
• Drops Karisma (shade 48), 5 x 50g balls 500m (547yds) or any DK yarn.
• For pompons I used stash yarn.
NB If you substitute another yarn, please check gauge (tension) and yardage, and adjust accordingly.
• 1 circular needle 3.50mm x 50cm (US 4) (or straight needles).
• 1 circular needle 4.50mm x 50cm (US 7) (or straight needles).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 4 Pompons.
MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING
SIZE: 44 x 36cm / 17 ½ x 14 in.
NOTE Finished size depends on your gauge. The pillowcase is stretchy, so it can fit bigger size pillow.
GAUGE (Tension): 23 sts and 26 rows = 10cm (4 ins), knitting being blocked and measured over cable st pattern, using 4.50mm (US 7) needle.
NOTE Needle size is only a guide - if you get too many stitches for 10cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches for 10cm, take a smaller needle size. It’s important to check your gauge before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your knit won’t be size shown. Gauge is not crucial for this pattern.
