Chromatella
Chromatella is semicircular shawl with a little bit of everything: lace, texture, cables, and some Estonian gathered stitches. The design begins with a central flower (yellow, like the tiny Chromatella waterlily), flows into elegant twisted lily pads, and then into variations of the Estonian Lotus stitch, reminiscent of the floating heart lily.
The lotus & waterlily are symbols of resilience and equanimity, as their feet may be in the mud, yet they face the heavens and exude tranquility.
-
The shawl can be worked in 4 sizes, and the edging can be extended a little to make use of remaining yardage. Extra wedges can also be added to vary the width.
-
The design suits lace to sport weight yarn, of solid, semi solid, subtle speckle, or gradient colouring.
-
The pattern is charts only, however the early rows have also been written out to get the pattern established.
-
Suits a range of yardages from 700 - 1000m (or more if working in a heavier fingering weight and knitting all the extensions).
