A chunky, basket stitch baby blanket, that is quick and easy to knit. The pattern uses chunky yarn that knits up quickly and the pattern is ideal for beginners as it just uses a combination of knit and purl stitches. The blanket is knitted in one piece and has a moss stitch border.

The pattern comes with instructions for three sizes of blanket, the smallest size being ideal for a car seat, buggy, stroller or bassinet. The larger size is perfect for a cot or crib.

Approximate sizes: Small 53 x 66cm (21 x 26 inches), Square 77 x 77cm (30 x 30 inches), Large 77 x 98cm (30 x 38.5 inches).

Skills required: cast on, bind off, knit and purl.
The pattern has written instructions and also knitting chart instructions depending on your preference.

I have used Hayfield’s Super Chunky with Wool, (Small x 4 balls, Square x 6 balls and Large x 7 balls).

The recommended needle size is 8mm (11US), I have used circular needles (knitting back and forth) for ease of knitting because of the amount of stitches.
